Five things to learn from 'The Immortals of Meluha' !

...to me The Immortals of Meluha, is a political commentary with messages for our world & a hope that since they flow from the Mahadev himself, they shall find greater acceptance. Be it Shiva’s battle cry – Har Har Mahadev – as every man a Mahadev or the valour of Sati who fights her own battles – every passage is rich in meaning and yet, open to interpretation. Therein lies the strength of this book.

There are handfuls of beautiful things that you can take away from this book, it teaches you:

...that you can’t just play by the rules, because someone else made them...in their favour – Shiva, time-to-time, through his actions – through his meticulous assessment always checks the righteousness and fairness of laws and rules out those with disparity, as in case of prevalent Vikarma law in Meluha.

...that if you want something from a person, you ought to give that person something s/he wants...it’s called ‘Theory of Transactions’. It makes up the fabric of society. You know the cloth that we wear is created when cotton threads are woven together. Similarly, transactions are threads that when woven together make up a society, it’s culture. Or in case of a person, their character. If you want to understand a person’s character, look closely at their interpersonal interactions – their transactions. Transactions are about give and take. Understand what they crave for and make them an offer they can’t refuse and you can get whatever you want.

...that destiny comes first, deeds follow! Some of us think that they don’t deserve the life they’ve got; that their deeds so far do not commend the kind of life they live. But a Pandit in a conversation with Mahadev poses an excellent argument, he says, you don’t earn the Title (or life), after you’ve done your deeds. You do your deeds because of and only after you believe that you already are The One. It doesn’t matter what others think. It’s about what you believe. Believe in your true-self and you will be the one you ever dreamed off.

...that people who stand against you--your opponents may not always be evil. It’s just that they might be different and being different isn’t evil.

...that to have a mighty HEART and dignity, you don’t have to be rich, you just got to have ONE. It will not make your burden any lighter, but it will make you feel strong enough to carry it...!

Thanks @Amish Tripathi for the amazing read.
